The archives at the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) breathe life into our collective memory, celebrating the people and milestones that have defined our journey. Each document, project report, annual report, research note, piece of MSSRF correspondence, administrative paper, publication, media coverage, and photograph tell a story of dedication, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of a sustainable future.
As the MSSRF archive is in its early stages, its completion promises to be an invaluable resource for future generations. Once fully developed, the archive will offer a comprehensive record of the Foundation's pioneering efforts in leveraging science and technology for agricultural and rural development. It will showcase MSSRF's pro-poor, pro-women, and pro-nature initiatives, providing detailed accounts of innovative solutions to practical challenges in agriculture, food, and nutrition. This extensive repository will serve as a critical tool for researchers, policymakers, and community leaders, offering insights and inspiration for continued progress and sustainable development.
In the Chairman's Introduction section of the 2011-12 Annual Report, Prof. Swaminathan highlighted the significance of the MSSRF Archives and praised Dr. Parasuraman for his crucial role in managing and preserving the foundation's knowledge. Prof. Swaminathan remarked, "Dr. N. Parasuraman has been with MSSRF from the beginning and has been a storehouse of important archival materials. His memory is phenomenal, and he maintains historical records with meticulous care" (AR, 2012, p.20).
Now, as all the preserved materials are being designed into an official archive, Dr Parasuraman's invaluable contributions will form the backbone of this comprehensive repository. This archive will meticulously document the Foundation's journey, preserving its rich history and the ground-breaking work that has shaped agricultural and rural development.
